About This Item

New York: Gotham Book Mart, 1983. Book. Near Fine. Soft cover. Signed by Author(s). First Edition. 12mo - over 6¾ - 7¾" tall. Stiff white illustrated wrappers, staple bound. Sixteen pages of paper doll cutouts to dress E.D. Ward Bear (bear on front and back covers). Illustrated and produced by Edward Gorey. First edition. Signed by Gorey on rear cover in typical fashion by using his pseudonym Dogear Wryde, written directly above the crossed out printed version. Dogear Wryde was one of the many anagrams of the author's name used over the years as both author and illustrator, several of the more familiar being Ogdred Weary, Ms. Regera Dowdy, and Eduard Blutig. No previous ownership marks. A very nice copy with sharp corners, clean unmarked interior and only a hint of cover soiling to rear wrapper below hinge. Near fine. Toleando A87.
