About This Item
New York: The Sherwood Company, 1917. 1st Edition . Hardcover. About Very Good. 12mo - over 6¾ - 7¾" tall. New York: The Sherwood Company, 1917. First Edition. 12mo, 106 pp., green cloth boards, black imprinting. Two notable front cover stains (see scan); apart from that, Very Good, with just corner touching, light spine end wear. Surprisingly little age-toning to the pages. Briefly an almost manic fad in 1917, and now highly collectible, Eat and Grow Fat aimed not at the obese, but the emaciated (who were, apparently, the bigger problem at the time). An explanation of all this, and how our bodies work, occupies pages 1 through 27; Pages 31 through 58 offer round-the-calendar meal menus, and recipes for some of the suggestions occupy pages 61-106. Don't neglect this one if you collect cookbooks. L-38n
