Easy Woodstuff for Kids

U.S.A.: Gryphon House, 1981. Soft cover. Very Good. 1.9 x 21.6 x 25.4 cm-When I first got this book from a friend, at first I thought, "I would never be able to use this in a classroom! Imagine 25 seven-year-olds with hammers! And anyway, I've never worked with wood!" Well, much to my delighted surprise, I found the ideas and projects in this book to be easy, fun, and practical! From one of the easiest projects (gluing sticks onto cardboard to write a child's name) to the hardest projects (a simple birdfeeder or a plant holder- which are still pretty easy), all of the projects include step-by-step directions, thorough illustrations, and notes from the author concerning the 'little things' like what type of wood would work best, tips and tricks, and that sort of thing. He even includes helpful advice and instruction in using woodworking tools, sanding tools, and basic tools (such as putting nail through a thick piece of paper to hold it- keeps fingers from getting smashed!). I know that the projects in this book could be used or adapted into a classroom setting easily, and if you are thinking about working with your children at home, this is a perfect book for easy, kid-friendly (and inexperienced-adult-friendly) woodworking projects!
