About This Item

New York:: Farrar, Straus & Giroux,, (1978). Hardcover first edition -. Very near fine in a like dustjacket.. First printing. In the early 70s with the supply of heroin virtually dried up on the streets two cocaine smugglers saw a chance for "easy money." George Ramos, a Cuban American conspired with Frank Matthews to smuggle into the United States a shipment of European heroin worth one hundred million dollars on the streets. Although the feds got wind of their scheme (in fact Ramos turned government witness and provides much of the information included here) this book sheds light on the enormously lucrative drug business of the Spanish and Black "mafias." 366 pp.
