About This Item

New York: Doubleday & Co., 1972. First Edition, First Printing. . Hardcover. Very Good/Good Plus to Very Good. Perhaps best known for his police procedural crime novels written under his Ed McBain pseudonymn, Hunter was one of the most popular and prolific 20th century American writers. This collection of short fiction is unusual in that it features one of his few plays -- "The Easter Man," which Hunter described as "about a group of young people trying to grow up. The other six stories are about people of various ages, many of them still trying. Remainder spray on bottom of text block, covers show slightly bumped corners, a touch of edgewear, o/w boards and text are clean and unmarked, tight and square. The dustjacket shows considerable edge wear with two short, closed tears on upper edge of front panel, a single small tear on the fold between back panel and flap, a vertical crease on the front flap and age-tanning on exposed white areas. That said, dj remains whole, with no significant damage to front panel design or back panel photograph. Not price-clipped. Overall, a collectable copy of a scarce Hunter edition.
