London: George Bell & Sons, 1908. 1st Edition First Thus. Pictorial Boards. Good+. 4to - over 9¾ - 12" tall. M. V. Wheelhouse. 1908, first edition. Size octavo, 9.75" tall, 59 pages. Dark taupe pictorial paper covered boards, the front cover has titles printed in red, blue and black and illustration of a cock, a hen and 3 chicks and a number of eggs, red titles to the spine, pictorial paste-downs and end-papers, title page printed in red and black and illustration with cock, 2 hens and five chicks. Condition good plus, corners, hinges and spine ends rubbed, covers and spine a bit age darkened, spine a little sunned dark too, offsetting and light spotting to end-papers, few faint spots to margins of pages. The plates are nice and clean with no foxing as they have been printed on to glossy paper. Beautifully illustrated by M. V. Wheelhouse with colour frontispiece and five further colour plates and vignette illustrations at the start and end of each chapter.
