London : Manchester University Press, 1961. 1st Edition 1st Printing. Hardcover. Good/Good. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. First edition first printing. A very reasonable Ex-Library hardback book is tight and square. Boards sharp and clean, title gilt perfect. Text block has very light toning and a few very light spots to the edges. The front pastedown has tape marks that overlap slightly on to the front flap of the jacket. The FEP has pencil price, and tape offset toning. The the third free end page has single very small library stamp. The title page has library stamp and withdrawn stamp. The copyright page has rectangular library stamp. The rest of the text block has small stamps at the foot of the first page, and the foot of the last text page. Bumped spine ends. Graded as good due to ex-library status, however looks and feels better that the grade given. Jacket has spent its entire life in a protective cover and therefore is very clean and smart, no creasing or tears. Jacket is price clipped The panels have very bold colours and only a touch of grubbiness to the rear panel. The spine has bold colours and library notation to foot of spine. For grading accuracy books are photographed without a protective book cover. This book is fitted with a non adhesive archival quality book protector to make a worthy addition to your collection. Note we do not use stock images, the book pictured is the book described. A very solid ex-library example, in lovely bright jacket, this book has recently being reissued by University of Toronto Press in 2016. We do not normally list ex-library copies unless they are exceptionally clean or collectible. This copy in the archival fitted cover looks great on the shelf and would benefit any serious Wells collection.
