Publisher's cloth, gilt-stamped lettering on spine, gilt-stamped illustration (a horse) on upper board; 4to; pp. [xviii], [160], plus frontispiece and 44 plates, illustrating 100 figures (12 of which are in color). Some light rubbing and scuffing at spine tips and along joints and edges of boards; adhesive remains on front paste-down, where it appears a bookplate was removed; otherwise internally nice and clean. An extensive reference, including guides to marks and inscriptions, pronunciation, glossary, dynastic epochs, bibliography, and index.
