(San Francisco): The Book Club of California, 1960. First edition. Pamphlets within folder and slipcase. Near Fine. Tall 8vo. Unpaginated. Illustrated with black & white photographs on blue paper. Keepsakes are inserted in a pale blue cardboard folder within a blue cloth slipcase, black morocco spine label stamped with gilt lettering. Small stain to front cover of inner chemise, else clean throughout. This series of keepsakes includes 12 individual pamphlets with the following titles: "The 40c Rate Period to California," "Adams & Company," "Samuel W. Langton," Pioneer Expressmen," "Todd, Reynolds," "Gregory's Express," "The Pony Express," "Overland Mail," "Wells Fargo & Co.," "Early California Local Mail," "Outside the Mails," and "Ocean Mail." As evinced by the titles, most relate to the history of mail in early California or to Californian business personalities and their companies during the period.
