London: Robert White, 1648. 1st Edition. Soft cover. Very Good. The printing by command of the King of the correspondence among and between: George Goring Earl of Norwich, Arthur Capel Baron of Hadham, Sir Charles Lucas, Baron Thomas Fairfax, George Montagu-Dunk, Earl of Halifax, et al between June 10 and June 23, 1648 as to events in the siege of Colchester during the Civil War after which battle Sir Lucas was executed. 8 leaves as 1 signature (apparently previously bound in unknown book or binding), 4to, [2], 13, [1] p, 18 cm (perhaps trimmed at top) with a woodcut border, printer's engraved headpiece and decorated capital on (A2). Less toning, wear or age than usually seen for material of this period. ESTC lists 9 actual copies either US or UK.
