Large quarto, 945 pages with 3 tables, 33 figures, 94 maps and 180 full-page plates (165 in colour). Papered boards slightly bowed and bumped, with two tiny surface abrasions to the front top corner; minimal foxing; an excellent copy with the near-fine dustwrapper a little foxed on the verso.
