Erste Auflage. - Ernst Wilhelm Nay (1902-1968 in Köln) deutscher Maler und Grafiker der klassischen Moderne. Er ist einer der bedeutendsten Maler der deutschen Nachkriegszeit. Nays Werk lässt sich keiner Kunstströmung zuordnen. Während in seinem Frühwerk noch Einflüsse von Henri Matisse und seinem Lehrer Karl Hofer erkennbar sind, beginnt Nay sehr bald konsequent mit der Entwicklung seiner eigenen Farb- und Formensprache. Die Weiterentwicklung betreibt Nay bis zu seinem Lebensende. Sie manifestiert sich in scharf abgegrenzten Werkphasen, die Wesentlichen sind in der Biographie angegeben. Dabei überspannt sein Werk stilistisch ein breites Spektrum. Sein Frühwerk ist gegenständlich mit teils surrealen Elementen. Bereits in den 1930er Jahren verkümmern die Gegenstände zu Farb- und Formträgern, um ab den 1950er Jahren höchstens als Ornament aufzutreten. Der rote Faden durch sein Gesamtwerk ist ein Spannungsaufbau in seiner Komposition durch die Linienführung, insbesondere aber durch das Farbenspiel, der sich am besten mit dem Begriff Rhythmus beschreiben lässt. 010

Terms of payment

Invoices are to be paid within 15 days. For first orders we reserve delivery after payment in advance. In case of delay of payment, the second reminder is charged at an extra cost of CHF 10.00. Also, other additional costs are charged to the customer.

Sales return

In the event of a well-founded claim, the merchandise can be returned upon consultation within 14 days. If the claim turns out to be unsubstantiated, or the damage is the result from improper handling by the customer etc., all the costs are charged to the customer. Returns are only accepted with the invoice enclosed. Damages during shipment have to be notified within 48 hours. Otherwise the refund expires. Return upon dissatisfaction is excluded.

Place of venue

We are subject only to Swiss law. Place of venue is Zurich.
