London: Mouth & Foot Painting Artists, 2000. revised edition. As New. tall octavo. hardback with dust jacket 163pp., colour & b/w plates, Stegmann lost the use of his arms through Polio and having taught himself to paint using mouth-held brushes, became a professional artist. He was imprisoned in German in the thirties for his political views, but though banned, continued painting after his release and formed a co-operative of disabled artists.
