This essay examines Amelia Rosselli?s formative years according to two closely entwined themes that characterize her complex poetry: poverty and foolishness. This specific focus enlightens the political and cultural context in which her life and work are situated while shedding new light on her verses. The volume also presents a letter from Amelia Rosselli to her brother John containing two unpublished poems, as well as other unpublished letters to the poet Giovanni Giudici.
