About This Item

Amsterdam: Elsevier.. As New with no dust jacket. 1985. Presumed First Edition. Hardcover. A Two-volume set in full brown modern leather, titled in gilt to both spines and front covers. From Professor Slater's Library. Unworn, Near As NEW. The collected papers of the late Professor E. C. (Bill) Slater, in the form of abstracts from 'Biochemica et Biophysica Acta', with his articles covering the period from 1957 to 1985. These are from the library of Professor Slater himself, and have the odd small number written and stamped to the top front corner of some pages, and at least one annotation/correction in the margin by him. There is also an 'errata' note tipped in to volume one with info of a printing error. Both volumes have integral white ribbon bookmarks. This set could be unique in this binding, perhaps bound for him personally? ? . Sections/Articles are 'as new' throughout but printed on different toned paper stock. IF this was commercially available, this would have been a very small print run. "Edward Charles Slater, “Bill” for friends, was one of the giants of the field of biochemistry and bioenergetics. An excellent biochemist, Slater was also an outstanding mentor and a gifted administrator who turned 'Biochimica et Biophysica Acta' into one of the most influential biochemical journals of the 1960s and ’70s and who contributed to the governance of numerous organizations, including the International Union of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology..." . This set is Very Heavy and will require extra postage for International buyers only, depending on your location. Rare. See Images. ; Each Volume Large 8vo 8" - 10" tall .
