About This Item

[NIVEN BUSCH] DUEL IN THE SUN. Popular Library, New York, 1947. First Edition, 3rd printing. Condition: Very Good / Good. With minor micro tears and micro chips to edges, creases, minor rubbing and frayed edges on spine, soiling and waterstained to covers typical of pulp fiction books of this age, otherwise gently read, pages are all present, clean and binding tight. Duel in the Sun was directed by King Vidor and released in 1946 in Technicolor, the film stars Gregory Peck, Jennifer Jones, Joseph Cottenand many more well known actors including Walter Huston (father of John Huston). The film is narrated by Orson Wells. Signed with gift inscription on December 20, 1954 by pioneer country music legend and actress Laura Lee Owens McBride, she was the daughter of country western music legends D.H. (Doie Hensley) Owens "Tex Owens" and Ruby Agnes Owens "Texas Ruby". Laura acted in 13 films with Gene Autry during the Golden Age of movie westerns, performed with Bob Wills and the Texas Playboys and later she married Dickie McBride of the "Music Macs". She is known today as the first Queen of Western Swing. As of this writing today, this is the only known signed book on the market by Laura McBride. Classic Movie-Tie in with scarce signature from one of the first Southern female country music greats of the Golden Age of Country Music, rare Hollywood association and highly collectible. 255 pgs. 8vo.
