London: Blue Ribbon Books, 1874. Pictorial front with decoration spine on brown cloth boards with pictorial end papers. Wear to spine head and tail. Internally contents are slightly shaken, as front hinge is cracked, pictorial endpapersbut generally a clean copy. Good+. xi + 553 pages. Contains the translator's preface stating that 'the present is the FIRST ENGLISH VERSION ever brought before the public', dated January 1874, although the translator is not named. Not dated but does not appear to be the first of this new edition with new illustrations specially made for this edition by Steele Savage. which are profuse. Written between 1832 and 1837 and inspired by Rabelais. B2B. First Thus. Hard Cover. Good/No Jacket. Illus. by Savage, Steele. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
