About This Item

UK,slim, small 8vo HB+dw/dj,1st thus. [Originally and first published by Hodder & Stoughton (UK),1944. Max Brand is the pseudonym of Frederck Schiller Faust. William Shatner was offered/cast in the role but declined it for work on For The People, leaving unknown Richard Chamberlain to the role of of the new intern at metropolitan Blair General Hospital.] NFINE/VG++. No owner inscrptn and no price-clip to dw/dj.Bright,clean,glossy,wrap-around black background with b/w+colour pictorial illustration to front panel of dw/dj,with capitalised black lettered title+author name within a black+red squared banner at its top edge - a letter in each square, lightly sunned/faded spine/backstrip with repeated title+author as front and publisher's b/w colophon to foot of same, rear panel with white letteredadvertising of author's previous Dr Kildare title and a short synopsis. Negligible shelf-wear,bumping,creasing to edges and corners, some miniscule rubbing at corner tips and head+foot of spine/backstrip - no nicks, tears or splits present.Top+fore-edges generally bright and clean; contents bright, tight, clean, soild and sound - near pristine - no dog-ear reading creases to any pages' corner tips, appears unread, other than my own collation.Publisher's bright,crisp,clean,sharp-cornered, original plain blue cloth boards with bright, crisp, blocked gilt boxed panel with blue lettered spine/ backstrip, and immaculate plain white endpapers.UK, slim, snall 8vo HB+dw/dj,1st edn,6-144pp [paginated] includes 11 chapters; plus [unpaginated] half-title+title pages.Author's 2nd Dr Kildare title, after DR KILDARE'S CRISIS. Visually the exterior appearance is acceptable, and particularly internally, the book is in an exceptional condition/state of preservation and presentation for a book of its age.It is only the exterior faults that prevents a slightly higher grading for the dw/dj. Despite them,it is still an acceptable copy. Estelle Courcy had a tremendous future as a model and dancer until she was terribly injured in a street accident. It was only by a miracle that Doctor Kildare managed to save her life. And in order to do so he had to make his priorities. Her shattered leg had to take second polace.Even if it meant she would never dance again. But Estelle Courcy couldn't acepot that Doctor Kildare had done the right thing, and she sued him for a king's ransom in damages. In doing so she placed him in an impossible position. For the only way he could only defend himself was to tell her in an open court a terrible truth about herself.Something she could not possibly know. And it was something which would destroy her. Please contact seller, because of the lighter weight of this item, for correct shipping/P+p quotes - particularly ALL overseas buyers - BEFORE ordering through the order page! N.B.
