London: Printed for C. Dilly in the Poultry, 1798. Book. Very Good. Quarter-Leather. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. Provenance: Heraldic bookplate on front pastedown with the crest of a badger and motto 'virtus est dei', George Brooke of Haughton Hall b 1802, magistrate for Shropshire, died unmarried in 1847. Bound in early 19thC quarter leather, grey pebble-marbled boards, flat spine with gilt bands, red morocco title label; some small chipping to the spine top right corner with slight split beginning in the front hinge at top, typical rubbing to the boards. Text is clean. Selected and Arranged from Mr Boswell's Life of Johnson. The title-page followed by Advertisement leaf, 446 pages + contents leaf. ESTC citation T82894.
