Thwaites, the notable historian and Secretary of the State Historical Society of Wisconsin, made three canoe trips in 1887, down the Rock River from Madison to the Mississippi, Fox River from Portage to Green Bay & Wisconsin River from Portage to the Mississippi; and comments on places visited, people met, and history of the region. Second edition, 1902; first published in 1888, here slightly revised, with photos not in the first edition. Hardcover, full green cloth, decorated in gold & dark green, as pictured; design by Frank Hazenplug, with his 'H' monogram. Shows light wear, corners bumped; light rubbing, endsheets and adjacent pages with minor damage - light creases to the front, short tear to rear, affecting the last page of the index. Text clean; 300 pages; index, two maps, table of distances, 8 b/w photo plates.. Second Edition. Hard Cover. Very Good/No Jacket. 5¼" by 7½".
