New York: Macmillan, 1943. 8vo size ochre cloth bound hardcover, with brown titles and decorations on spine and cover; 294 toned pages with black and white illustrations and color frontispiece. Originally published in 1866, it have been reprinted many times. This edition features illustrations from Newbery award winning author and illustrator Marguerite de Angeli. Charlotte M Yonge (1823 - 1901) was the author of more than 150 books, mainly novels. Her first book was published in 1848. Marguerite de Angeli (1889 - 1987) was the author and illustrator of more than two dozen books and was the winner of multiple awards for both her children's books and her illustrations of children's books, including the 1950 Newbery Medal. Bumped head and heel of spine; name and inscription inside cover. Dusty top. Family historians: the name in the book is Molly McKey.
