London: W.H. Allen, 1965. SIGNED BY AUTHOR on front endpaper and dated 1967. A near Fine unmarked copy with just a little touch of foxing to top edge with VG+ dustjacket, by Biro, which is not price clipped. A delicate satire of William Eversleigh, a biology lecturer and a staunch Baconian, and Richard Holcroft, an actor and a fervent Shakespearian. Both forge a little evidence to help their theories stand up, and by an odd coincidence their letters appear in The Times on the same day. A television confrontation is arranged but because Richard shaves off his nearly lifelong beard to play Hamlet, and thus reveals a startling likeness to William, in fact they are proved to be twins, and the programme is cancelled. They arrive together in Stratford to discuss their forged evidence at the quatercentenary celebrations, agree to destroy the 'evidence' and then arrive at the startling conclusion about Shakespeare which forms the crux of the novel. Freda Margaret Kelsall. 2. Signed by Author. First Edition. Hard Cover. Near Fine/Very Good. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
