The text of the postcard in MacLeish's handwriting reads: "Dear Mr. Neiman: Thanks for yours of the 20th. Unhappily I'm doing no speaking or reading next year. Trying to get more writing done. Faithfully," followed by a signature ("A MacLeish"). Fraser Neiman taught English at the College of William and Mary and was responsible for finding speakers/readers for special occasions.
