About This Item

MP3 Audio CD. Ride on the Wind and Battle the Fiercest Foes with Don Quixote ? Volume 1

Considered the first modern novel, Don Quixote was written by Spanish writer Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra more than 400 years ago and has served as a source of inspiration for many brilliant writers who came later on. Published in two volumes ? this being volume #1 of Saavedra's famous novel ? Don Quixote is a tale of adventure and make-believe, being regularly listed among the most recognized and well-constructed fictional works of all time.

The plot introduces us to a man named Alonso Quixano, a small landowner who is captivated by stories about chivalry and knights, and is himself led to believe that he is part of the fantasy worlds he's been reading about.

Convinced that he is a knight errant, Don Quixote, as he calls himself, he embarks on many dangerous adventures alongside his trusted sidekick, Sancho Panza. Throughout his tales, we are also acquainted with Don's imaginary beloved lady friend, Dulcinea del Toboso, who was in real life a neighbor farm girl by the name of Aldonza Lorenzo who is completely unaware of his feelings for her.

Don Quixote is one of the most emblematic characters of all time and one of the first that truly managed to bring the conflict between reality and illusion into the foreground, while painting a complex, intricate picture of the prospect of morality and nobility standing against the cold, sometimes harsh reality that surrounds us.

With Sancho at his side, Don Quixote sets off through both real and perceived perils in a book that will keep you entertained, while addressing some key philosophic and psychological issues that were not yet fully discussed and understood at the time this book was written.
