[3], viii-xiii, [4], 18-432, [2] pp. Green cloth with black rules on the boards and gold lettering on the front board and spine. Brown endpapers and pastedowns. Illustrated with two frontispieces and with a few full-page and in-text illustrations. Gephart E332.25.R2. Written by Jefferson's great-granddaughter. A thorough biography of the third President of the United States, written from an intimate perspective. Randolph's narrative covers Jefferson's travails as a diplomat, a scholar, and as a President, and it covers his financial failures. Some rubing to the boards' edges with minor discoloration to the front board and a physician and surgeon's name and stamp, dated 1874, on the front preliminaries.
