About This Item
NY: Grove Press/Everfreen, 1959. 1st Edition . Soft cover. Very Good. Softcover, Evergreen original (E-160), issued simultaneously with the first hardcover edition. It was written in 1952 when Kerouac was living with William S. Burroughs in Mexico City but not published until 1959. Very good condition though the front endpaper is toned from laid in newspaper reviews, which are of some interest. One is by Julian Monynahan, writing in the London Observer, who trashes Kerouac's previous novels including On the Road but goes on to praise Doctor Sax. The second review is from Die Welt, is in German and discusses Ein amerikanischer Buddah. (box 171)
