About This Item

This First Edition copy of The Divine Comedy – William Blake (William Blake's Watercolours to The Divine Comedy) by David Bindman was published in 2000 by the Bibliothèque de L'Image in Paris. The book, which measures approximately 12 inches wide by 10 ½ inches tall by 1 ¼ inches thick, contains 223 pages of text and illustrations concerning the 102 watercolor drawing that Blake produced to represent ideas in Dante's The Divine Comedy. The text in the book is always presented in three languages, i.e., English, German and French. The 102 full-page watercolor prints are on the verso of each page of descriptive text.

The book is hard bound in brown ¼ cloth, tan parchment-style paper covered boards, with white lettering on the spine. The book is further enclosed in its original dust jacket, with illustrations on both the front and rear faces. Both the book and dust jacket are in like new condition.

The illustrations accompanying this description show the front face of the dust jacket, the first page of the book's Introduction (in three languages), and three 2-page spreads, each showing one of the colored prints and its three language description.

About Pages For Sages

Pages For Sages has been in the business of buying and selling rare and used books, ephemera, and other unusual items for over forty years. We have long depended on book fairs, printed catalogs, auctions, and the like to support the business. Now, in our later years (ages 90 and 92) we are taking this step to display a catalog of inventory on the Biblio web site for your consideration. The number of our listings will grow as we continue the process of adding items from our inventory - please come back from time to time to find additional offerings.
