About This Item
Oxford: S.N.. Good with no dust jacket. 1780. First Edition. Hardcover. 129, [7] p. Index. From the Joseph Mendham collection with his signature "ex libris" on the title page, as well as an extensive "Clavis Codicum" in brown ink on the blanks at the rear in what appears to be Mendham's hand. A large folio in 3/4 leather with marbled boards. Boards and first 2 blanks detached. Leather corners quite worn and much rubbing at all edges. Interior first blank has old ink inscription and then Mendham's notes, otherwise clean and unmarked. Worn, obviously used extensively by Mendham, but internally clean and nice. This is quite a scarce example. None in WorldCat, this one is ESTC T185436, with only 14 copies known in the UK and North America. Kennicott (1718-1783) was an English churchman and Hebrew scholar and this was his greatest work. ; Folio 13" - 23" tall; 129 pages .
