Black and white frontispiece, showing title page of a 1597 atlas. Throughout the text there are 12 coloured plates, several text illustrations, maps and illustrations at the beginning of chapters. Blue boards with gilt writing on the spine. The endpapers are illustrated with maps. There is minor shelf wear evident on the bottom edge of the boards, and there's an ownership inscription at the bottom right-hand corner of the half title page. Illustrated dustwrapper, showing a map overlaid with illustrations. 600 years before the birth of Christ there was an imagined, and immense land at the bottom of the world.
