(New Delhi, India), 8 3/4 x 11 inches tall softbound in plain beige stiff wraps and publisher's pictorial dust jacket, copiously illustrated in black-and-white, red endpapers, vii, 84 pp. Bumping to upper tips of book, with slight creasing to that tip. Creasing and discolorations to beige wraps. Mark from prior use of paper clip to upper tip of title page, copyright and acknowledgement pages. Otherwise, apart from slight age toning, a very good copy - clean and unmarked - in a worn and torn dust jacket, now nicely preserved in a clear archival sleeve. Favorable 1972 book review from the Journal of Asian Studies laid in. ~SP14~ India art sculpture, art history. Dr. Charles Louis Fabri (1899-1968), born in Hungary, first went to India with the archaeologist M. Aurel Stein in 1931 and returned to teach at Tagore's Santiniketan. He settled in India, earning a reputation as linguist, dance and art critic for The Statesman, mentor to generations of artists; he is author also of History of the Art of Orissa and Buddhist Baroque Teracottas of Kashmir.
