Boston: Russell & Cutler. G. 1805. 1st Edition. Hardcover. First edition bound in the original paper-backed boards, remnants of s pine label, pages untrimmed. 5 1/2" X 9 1/4", 248 pages. A Good copy i n the original binding. Some wear to the boards, early stitched repair s at the spine edges through both boards and all leaves. Foxing throug h-out. With ownership signature of John W. Hulbert, Member of the Hou se of Representatives from Massachusetts (1814-1817). Also with later (c. 1830) ownership's signature of Ambrose Cowdery, who served during the American Revolution in Capt. Parsons' Comp. of the 2nd Connecticut Regiment. This is the first book of this series of essays written by John Adams in the Gazette of the U.S. during the first year of his te rm as the first Vice President of the United States. Rare, especially so in the original boards. .
