About This Item
Philadelphia, 1959. Bifolium program and menu with folded leaf of typescript lyrics inserted, pink stiff card, vignette cover, photo of the Hammerstein family with children from the House on final page. Participants included Ed Sullivan, who served as toast master, and Pearl S. Buck as a presenter. Light fold to top right corner, else fine. The Welcome House was foundation dedicated to international adoption, focusing on "hard-to-place children, without prejudice as to a child's American-Asian birth and without prejudice against placement of physically handicapped orphans." The Welcome House was established by Buck, and Hammerstein was serving as president at the time of the banquet.
