About This Item
Muenchen: Kurt Wolff. Printed by C. Wolf & Sohn, Muenchen, Spring 1921. Limited Edition. Half Morocco. Near Fine. Large paper copy of this short story or novella without words. No. 363 of 750 copies, this "Auf feinstes Hadernpapier", or the finest rag paper, printed, and using the original woodcuts of the first edition which was printed in 1918. Capturing the rawness and strife of modern life, especially the harshness of life in Weimar Germany. Depicting, among other things, the individual against the impersonal state. 4to. 28 by 23 cm. Title, half title, followed by 25 woodcuts (linoleum cuts), one per leaf, all on the rectos, and limitation page. 30 leaves in all. The large margins, here perfectly clean, help draw the eye to the stark, and disturbing, imagery of struggle and dystopia. Some edgewear to binding. Clean and tight -- internally Fine.
