Preller, M.A. Engelse vertaling deur A.J. de Villiers, M.A. Original cloth, partly faded, pp. (viii) + 284, frontispiece, plates. Endpapers and margins a little foxed, owner's name on the front pastedown endpaper. The diarist (1871 - 1941) was an editor, politician and cabinet member. From that time Malan strove for his political ideal, ... In May 1908 Malan, as one of the Cape delegates, attended the inter-colonial conference in Pretoria at which, as a direct result of preliminary work carried out by Smuts, the decisive steps were taken for a meeting of the National convention on closer union. Malan was also one of the Cape delegates at the National convention, which held its first meeting in Durban in October 1908. To record the proceedings of the convention and his views on certain questions, Malan, from 7.10.1908, kept an important diary ... [offered here].' .
