Lacking the two additional booklets. A stunning uniform facsimile edition of Samuel Johnson's A Dictionary of the English Language, to this day remaining one of the most famous dictionaries in the history of the English language for its attention to detail and its massive scholarly achievement, being a more extensive and complex dictionary than any predecessors, listing forty-thousand words. The dictionary took only over eight years to compile, and required the contributions of six helpers and forty scholars.Undated, dated by copies held by the British Library. Based in the literary city of Bath, our offices are housed in the Eastern Dispensary. Built in 1845, the building originally existed as a charitable institution providing medical care. The building now houses our collection of over twenty thousand books and has five full time members of staff.
