About This Item

Undated fifteen volume hardcover set of Dickens' Works. Faux calf leather three-quarter bindings with marbled boards. Head and tail bands, gilt tops, five raised bands on spines, marbled endpapers. Each book has previous owner signature in pencil on blank page in the frontmatter, all dated 1902. Edges are aged, bindings firm although a few of the books have boards slightly lifting away from the hinge and the marbled boards are scuffed at the botton edge. Small tear on back free endpaper of Tale of Two Cities/Sketches by Boz. Pencil annotation on back endpaper and highlighted (in pencil) on page 162 on Nicholas Nickleby. Small tear on back endpaper of England/Reprinted Pieces. Two light pencil marks on page 30/31 on Tale of Two Cities/Sketches by Boz. Pages in the front of Bleak House has handwriting, in ink, which appears to be a list of names.The complete list of titles are: Old Curiosity Shop/Humphrey's Clock, Oliver Twist/American Notes/Pictures from Italy, Our Mutual Friend, Pickwick Papers, Tale of Two Cities/Sketches by Boz, Nicholas Nickleby, Little Dorrit, Martin Chuzzlewit, Domby and Son, England/Reprinted Pieces, Great Expectations/The Uncommerical Traveller, Christmas Stories, David Copperfield, Bleak House. Price includes additional mailing costs due to weight. Despite the flaws this is a handsome set and would be a great addition to a book lovers home.
