E. P. Dutton & Company. Near Fine. 1919. 1st Edition. 1st Printing. Hardcover. Near Fine book lacking the dust jacket. Bump to top and bottom of spine, no other defects. Bound in red cloth with bright gilt titles to front cover and slightly dulled titles to slightly faded spine. Binding is tight, pages are clean and unmarked. Many pages are unopened, with an upened leaf being still connected to its neighbor at the bottom edge. . The book contains approximately 40 plates, all of which are still present, according to the table of contents. Dickens' connections to his friends are described. These include Robert Browning, William Makepeace Thackeray, Carlyle, Tennyson, Washington Irving, Longfellow and Hans Christian Anderson, to name a few. A handsome copy of the first American printing. . 8vo 8" - 9" tall. 424 pages. B1 .
