New York: Street & Smith, 1906. Paperback. (No. 185). Small 4to. Color pictorial wrappers. 32pp. Very good. Lightly and evenly age toned as usual; all four edges of the front cover bear old but expertly applied paper reinforcements making the front cover quite attractive. Melodramatic "penny dreadful" (actually, cover price five cents by this time), which like so many at this time was as preoccupied by the magic of flight as the general populace -- cover illustration depicts a swaying hot air balloon with of course one figure dangling from its basket. A tight, handsome copy of this issue of "Brave and Bold," with bright, fresh colors. One wonders whether this character's name formed part of the inspiration for the name of the popular "Hardy Boys" juvenile series decades later.
