Printed on acid-free, 250-year-life paper. The facsimiles in these volumes have been produced from copies in the Bancroft Library of the University of California, Berkeley. They contain an extensive introduction with an index in Vol 7. Frontispiece portrait of Hiram and his two sons in Vol 1. Johnson practiced law in 1888 in Sacramento. Moved to San Francisco in 1904, became assistant district attorney, and was one of the founders of the Progressive Party in 1912.
