This issue includes a reproduction of an 1882 drawing, titled "Rain-in-the-Face," by an unidentified Indian Chief. It depicts a man riding a horse. According to this issue's introductory notes, the Chief drew this image in an effort to convey the life of his tribe, without the help of an interpreter, while visiting a boarding school in Pennsylvania used to assimilate Native Americans to white culture.
Other notable contributors in this issue include: Mary Austin, Anatole France, and D. H. Lawrence.
