Lawrence wrote two books during his brief stay in Australia.He wrote Kangaroo in NSW between June and July 1922.,dismissed as unreal and a figment of the authors imagination is in fact a unique glimpse at a half forgotten period of violence and hatred in Australia , a period when secret facist armies were formed to fight socialis and communism.Lawrence came across one of these sinister organisations during his stay.
