Frontier Guide The Dewdney Trail - Hope To Rock Creek - Frontier Book No.19 Though the first Dewdney Trail was completed from Hope to Rock Creek in 1861; was superseded by the Kettle Valley Line from 1915 to 1959; and re-created by the opening of the Hope-Princeton Highway in 1949 and the Richter Pass section in 1965, the same basic elements are still at work shaping the destiny of the land through which the historic Old Trail still runs. Mining still continues in a modest way at many points along the Trail. There are still stopping places along the Trail, but now they are modern motels and hotels, cafes and restaurants rather than log cabins.
