The French College was the original name of Blackrock College, one of Dublin's great Catholic middle class boys schools, so called because it provided a French style of education. Notable Blackrock alumni include Eamon De Valera, Liam O'Flaherty, John Charles McQuaid, Brian O'Nolan and Bob Geldof.
