Erik Shilling, 1993. First Edition. Hardcover. Fine/Near Fine. Limited Edition, this is Number 1,515 of 2,000 copies. Inscribed on the title page by Erik Shilling, with his address and telephone number handwritten below. The World War II memoirs of Eriksen E. Shilling (1916-2002), a member of Claire Lee Chennault's legendary American Volunteer Group (AVG), better known as the Flying Tigers. He was among the first to arrive in Rangoon, Burma in August 1941, and was a flight leader in the 3rd Pursuit Squadron, called Hell's Angels. Shilling is often credited with creating the iconic Flying Tigers nose art. Octavo. Original green buckram binding. A fine copy in a nearly fine dust jacket with just a hint of edgewear.
