New York: Criterion Books, 1958. Hardcover. x, 310p., very good condition in a price-clipped and worn dust jacket. Brand was a member of the Hungarian Jewish underground during the Nazi occupation. In 1944, he was approached by Adolf Eichmann, who offered to save the lives of one million Jews in exchange for Brand brokering a deal with either the US or Britain for the Nazis to obtain army trucks and other goods.
