Volume 1: – Mediterranean Front: The Year of Wavell, 1940-1941 introduction by Max Hastings, list of illustrations and maps, foreword by Field-Marshall Viscount Wavell, GCB, CMG, MC, preface by author and index. Map illustrated end pages, both different, the front end page shows the Western Desert in 1940; and the rear end page shows the routes taken by the author. The text is illustrated with two inserts, of eight pages each of black-and-white photography. Illustrated cloth covered boards with pale silver and black coloured titles to the back strip. Volume 2: – A Year of Battle: The Year of Auchinleck, 1941-1942, index. Map illustrated end pages, both different, the front end page showing the Western Desert 1941-1942: and, the rear end pages showing the routes taken by the author. The text is illustrated with two inserts of eight pages each of black-and-white photography. Illustrated cloth covered boards with pale silver and black coloured titles to the back strip. Volume 3: – The End in Africa: The Year of Eisenhower, Alexander and Montgomery, 1942-1943, list of illustrations, appendix and index. Map illustrated end pages, both different, the front end pages show the Western Desert 1942-1943: and, the rear end pages show the author those routes taken. The text is illustrated with two inserts of eight pages each, of black-and-white photography. Illustrated cloth covered boards with pale silver and black coloured titles to the back strip. Black coloured slip case with silver coloured illustration to the front panel with silver and grey coloured titles also present. . The eyewitness account of the African campaign during World War II. All books show a little rubbing of the book corners otherwise no damage. Rubbing of the slip case panels and maybe a little fading to the entrance. Size: 4to 9¾" - 12" tall.
