About This Item

Layers of magic weave together characters from prehistoric goddess to Little Boy Blue and a sleeping pig! From fanciful to utterly charming and much, much more is this tale from John Ashbery. For the llustrations, Ashbery chose his friend, the artist and fellow New Yorker, Jane Freilicher. "Persimmon!" There it is: the color of the leather label for the book and box and for the title page and chapter headings. Look for it echoed in Freilicher's three fantastical and beautifully colored woodblock prints that build upon the themes of the story.
Three colored wood block prints by Jane Freilicher.
