About This Item

Washington DC. Washington DC: NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration. Very Good with no dust jacket. 1964. 1st Edition. Softcover. This is a stapled oblong gray-green booklet. Several notes are jotted on the front cover, by different hands. Binding is tight, pages are clean. . This is an early report on the Gemini program, focussing on the planned experiments to be conducted. The experiments are described only, no results are here given. The printed date on the booklet is April 13, 1964, which precedes by some months the Gemini GT-3 through GT-7 flights. Stapled to the title page are two documents. The first is from William C. Schneider, Deputy Director of the Gemini Program, and is dated May 12, 1964. The letter notes that this is a preliminary plan and solicits recommended changes, comments, or corrections. The distribution list for the report appears at the bottom of the letter; all together 260 copies were distributed (including 5 copies to Werner von Braun). The second document is a one page 8.5 x 14 inch yellowed photocopy of the Experiment Schedule, with a 8/14/64 and other notes handwritten on the photocopy. The schedule includes the source of each experiment: the Department of Defense, several NASA departments, and several others. Scarce even without the additional documents, this is a unique piece of early NASA and space exploration history. . Oblong 8vo 8" to 9" tall. 79 pages. D0 .
