About This Item
Penobscot Press, 1999-01-01. Hardcover. Very Good. 1999 first edition Penobscot Press (Rockport, Maine), 6 3/8 x 9 1/4 inches tall x 2 1/2 inches thick red cloth hardcover, no dust jacket (as issued), gilt lettering to front cover and spine, illustrated with black-and-white photographs, xi, 883 pp. Very slight rubbing and edgewear to covers. Ink notation to upper margin of blank front free-endpaper indicating this was copy number 5 of a total of 245 printed. Very slight shadow to one page where an obituary was laid in. Otherwise, a very good copy - clean, bright and unmarked - of this scarce genealogy and family history. OCLC (No. 1029046001) locates only four copies at institutions worldwide - two at the Maine State Library and one each at the New England Historic Genealogical Society in Boston and the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C. Note that this is a heavy and oversized book, so additional postage will be required for international or priority orders. ~SP46~ [4.5P] Looks at the ancestry of, and traces the descendants of, Gideon Parkman (1714-1788/89) and Mary Vining (b. 1717), married in August 1734 in Weymouth, Norfolk, Massachusetts, who had five children together. The massive work traces some 4090 descendants for 12 generations. In addition to Parkman, extensively covered surnames (among many others) include: Abbott, Adams, Al Mutairi, Allen, Ames, Anderson, Austin, Backus, Bailey, Ballard, Bassett, Batchelder, Batron, Baxter, Bean, Begien, Bennett, Bergeron, Bickford, Bigelow, Bishop, Black, Blaisdell, Blake, Blakely, Blanchard, Bond, Booker, Bowden, Boyd, Braley, Brooks, Brown, Bryant, Burgess, Burrill, Butterworth, Call, Campbell, Candage, Carlisle, Chadbourne, Chamberlain, Chase, Child, Clark, Clement, Cole, Collins, Cook, Copeland, Cousins, Cox, Cummings, Cunningham, Dalton, Daniels, Davis, Delano, Devereaux, Dexter, Dion, Dodge, Donaldson, Drinkwater, Duarte, Dunham, Dunton, Dyer, Ellis, Emerson, Featherson, Flanders, Flint, Footman, Foster, Frost, Frye, Furbush, Gerald, Gerry, Gilbert, Goodwin, Gower, Grant, Gray, Gullifer, Hall, Hanson, Harvey, Henderson, Hill, Huff, Jewell, Jewett, Johnson, Jones, Kenney, Knowles, Lanpher, Lary, Lawson, Leavitt, Libby, Mace, Martin, Maxim, McEwen, McFadden, McKay, McKenney, McKusick, McLure, Merrill, Moody, Moran, Morrill, Morris, Myrick, Nason, Nelson, Oakes, Osborne, Parker, Patridge, Patten, Perkins, Peterson, Phillips, Pinkham, Pratt, Priest, Quimby, Reynolds, Robinson, Rogers, Rowe, Russell, Seavey, Simpson, Smith, Soule, Spencer, Spooner, Stinson, Thompson, Tripp, Varney, Violette, Warren, Weatherbee, Webb, Webber, White, Whitman, Whitten, Willey, Wilson, Wood, Wright, York, Young.
