Book condition: Covers bits of wear to extremities, faint creasing to small upper corner of leaves, lithographs and additional plates are all fresh and brilliant looking. Issue contains 9 original color lithographs, 5 double paged and 16 black & white reproductions including one in giant folded 4 panel poster size. The Maeght reference calls for 48 pages for this issue (which we suspect some sellers repeat without checking against their particular copies) but our careful collation indicates that 36 pages is the correct page count (following the usual eccentric paging schema that marked the entire DLM run). This is without counting the covers (which would another 4 pages). Current listings for this title show considerable variation in page count (40/30/36/23/ 48) and some dealers simply leave out mention of page count for this issue. Counting and ordering the pages in any issue of DLM is a fairly painstaking process since all the leafs are loose w/in the wraps and unnumbered plates are considered pages with no indication of where they belong in the proper order unless the recto happens to be a numbered page with text. Collation of original lithographs included adds an additional layer of complexity to the process of confirming that a particular issue of DLM is complete; it can be tricky to distinguish a true stone lithograph from one printed by offset process in many issues of DLM simply because the offset lithographs were printed with such high standards. Finally, Maeght considered a lithograph "original" in DLM only if it had been created specifically for that issue; otherwise it was simply referred to as a lithograph; offset lithographs we're referred to as "reproductions
